STRUCTURE AND OPERATION<\/h1>\n[\/split_line_heading][split_line_heading animation_type=”default”]It is through the Council of Twenty that the Consolat de Mar operates, as stated at the Ordinance of the Consolat de Mar, the internal regulation that governs the Institution.
\nThe Council of Twienty is formed by the President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, who presides the Council, and twenty other consuls: nineteen of them who are appointed by the Plenary Session of the Chamber, at the Executive Committee\u2019s proposal. The twentieth consul is the President of the Barcelona Grain Exchange, given its historical cooperation this organization has had with the Consolat de Mar. Josep Santacreu Bonjoch<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Josep Santacreu graduated in Medicine by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and PhD in business organization by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He owns a diploma in Business Administration and Management and Hospital Management from ESADE, a diploma in Health Economics from the UAB and a graduate degree in the Stanford Executive Program by the Stanford Graduate School of Business.<\/p>\n

He has an extensive career in business management in the health, insurance and NGO sectors besides his intense work with the areas of CSR and social entrepreneurship. From 1997 to 2023 he was CEO of DKV Seguros<\/em> and in 2000 he promoted the DKV<\/em> Integralia Foundation<\/em>, amongst other positions of responsibility that he has held so far.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, in 2016 he received the Creu de Sant Jordi<\/em> awarded by the Generalitat of Catalonia and he has appeared on the list of the companies and CEOs with the best business reputation in Spain.<\/p>\n

Since October 2023, he is the President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, a corporation of which he was a member of the plenary session from 2006 to 2019. He also serves as Secretary of several economic promotion organizations within the areas of tourism, local markets, design, environment and air transport.<\/p>\n

He is also a member of several arbitration and alternative conflict resolution institutions, such as the Consolat de Mar of Barcelona, the Transport Arbitration Board of Catalonia, the Barcelona Arbitration Court and the Arbitrators Committee of the Spanish Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

He is a member of the Mediation Advisory Committee of the Generalitat of Catalonia. He has a Law degree, and a Diploma in International Relations. The business activity was developed by her parents, continuing the family tradition. Since the beginning of her career, she has worked closely with the poultry sector, initially focusing on the commercial and communication areas and, later on, developing management positions. In recent years she has assumed representative positions at several relevant organizations of the poultry sector. Since 2023, she has been the President of the National Association of Egg Producers (ASEPRHU), Vice President of the Interprofessional Organization of Eggs and Their Products (INPROVO), and Vice President of the Barcelona Meat-Livestock and Poultry Market Board.
